How Āyurvedic Practice Works
The first step is booking an initial consultation. You will receive an intake form to fill-out in advance; that way we have plenty of time to go into details in person and begin to establish our unique therapeutic relationship together.
Your initial consultation lasts about 90 minutes. It involves a thorough intake interview, physical examination, and getting a clear understanding of your current life parameters and wishes for treatment.
If you choose a full treatment protocol, in the following week, I will send you a 7-8 page protocol clearly describing your 3-month treatment plan. Once you've had the chance to read it through, and jot down any questions– together we choose the optimal date for you to get started.
Prior to the start date of your protocol, schedule a complementary 20-minute follow-up to pick up your complete package of treatment goodies. Bring a backpack!
During the first week of your protocol, we will be in touch everyday by email or phone, to monitor your progress and make any appropriate adjustments. The frequency of our contact will naturally diminish over the next weeks and months, as you develop your own rhythm with your new habits.
One or two 45-minute follow-up appointments are normal to assess progress and adjust the protocol, before the end of your initial three months of treatment. Plus some shorter 15-20 minute check-in appointments when you are in the neighborhood.

How Āyurvedic Treatment Works
I find the entire practice to be quite profound and a constant learning exercise. Every patient is so entirely different and seeking their healing from such diverse personal histories and experiences. To me, offering an atmosphere of patience and breadth is paramount. People tend to be (rightfully) frustrated with the overload of unintegrated health advice out there, and carry a lot of self-blame for their maladies.
One of the primary tools they come away with is the ability to trust themselves. If you don’t feel right, something is actually amiss. You are not crazy. Medical providers often inadvertently gaslight patients into feeling like they are chasing a phantasm of disease because their symptoms don’t fit into the checkboxes of differential diagnosis. “It’s all in your head” is a misnomer. Āyurveda does not take the mind, emotions, and body separately. Everything is in fact psychosomatic.
When any one part is affected, the whole being will be changed. Thus we can address disease from any avenue and still heal the whole person.
It gives us a lot of flexibility in practice. If people prefer not to take herbs, then dietary and lifestyle changes go a long way. Or we can reach their maladies through natural medicine. Though I will never prescribe herbs alone without first clearing and opening the channels, and initiating a more balanced daily routine.
So, we can enter the healing realm through a more physical or spiritual method. The vast majority will approach through both. By aligning with nature, we reawaken the intelligence of the human organism which innately wants to protect and heal itself. When we are truly feeling more mentally sound, we finally have the freedom to make healthier choices.
The second part of trusting oneself is that patients develop the ability to do their own experimentation. Once they have stripped their daily intake and activities down to a baseline state, they can then see how additions or changes to their habits directly affect them. Putting the power of healing back into their own hands.
Over the years– whether as meditation and yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner, teacher, or therapist– I've observed my primary role is to provide a kind of maternal love, openness and acceptance, and completely nonjudgmental listening. Whether we only have one deep conversation together or if you stay with me for years of guidance.
People need real support. Someone invested in understanding their entire being. We should be held and loved from our conception through our death. This is the energy a true healer provides.
